The Biggest Misconceptions of Internet Marketing!
We’re going to share some of the Biggest Misconceptions of Internet Marketing!
Here are a few examples of misconceptions being taught by some “so called leaders” out there in internet land:
- One, being that if you purchase the ultimate software system, you’ll have millions of leads coming to you and you never have to do a thing. People will literally push an easy button and just join without ever talking to you. Ha! Such rubbish!
- The second being, if you become a internet guru then people will flock to you and buy all your products, again by little effort on your part.
- The third, being that if you simply cut a bunch of videos and use attraction marketing then again people will be drawn to you and the rest is history. (Called pushing the easy button again)
- Lastly, that if you post your links everywhere (also known as spamming other people’s facebook walls) or send out voicemail broadcasts that people will magically sign up with your opportunity. That’s the WORST! You people really give us network marketers a bad name! So tacky!
All four statements are simply not the case. It takes a balance of prioritizing your time. You want to use a great system , but it’s also not completely necessary to be successful. Systems sometimes are beneficial to help you stay organized, but aren’t the main focus. You can have the greatest system in the world, but what good will it do if you’re not generating leads and developing relationships? It’s up to YOU to pick up the phone, meet them in person, chat on the internet, plain and simple– CONNECT. Treat it like a business and you’ll get results!
You do want to use attraction marketing, such as cutting videos to show your personality and that you’re a real person who is sincere, but you don’t want to solely rely on any one of these. It simply comes down to actually connecting with people. Let us just reiterate this point, you DO need to be on the phone or internet talking one on one with real people. Internet/network marketing is a numbers game. You absolutely need to be talking to people in order to gain trust. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…people join people, not businesses. No one is going to want to buy your products or join your team if they don’t trust you.
Something else you want to remember is that if you are on the phone with prospects and you’re getting a bunch of no’s, don’t give up on your dream of success, just keep at it because the more no’s just means that there is a yes awaiting right around the corner. It goes back to the numbers, if you’re not on the phone at least trying, then you’ll never get anywhere and no system, e book, or video can help with that. In summary, reach out and connect..period, that will inevitably bring success in your business.

This article is really intelligent. You have to build a relationship with prospects no matter if you do it on the phone or in person. I believe that prospects need to know, like and most importantly trust you. Because they will not give you their credit card number or believe a thing that you say if they can not trust you. They may be polite just to respect you but that is about it. Without all the three ingredients in place all you will have is a rotten apple pie.

Oh no doubt, emails as well as those despicable voice mails! Can be distracting if you let it, but our suggestions are to stay focused on one task, one company until you become successful. Thanks so much for the nice compliment David! Very nice!

Absolutely right! In this virtual world, efforts are nothing without trust. Yes you have your tails but do they have the hearts? B2B is same as P2P or Face to Face interaction .

Succeeding with our online endeavor is indeed not easy, oftentimes its very depressing. But as you have pointed out here, we just need to keep on trying. I also believe that we need to know what really works and this can be done through trial and error. Success may not be easy, but it favors those who evolve and persevere.

Yes, you have to remain positive and work on personal development on a daily basis. Agree that you will learn much through trial and error, but also following others that have been there and done that and know what pitfalls to avoid, helps as well. Perseverance and commitment is vital!

Great post and you are so right about people thinking that there are big easy red buttons out there — the other one that gets me is that they think they can put up a website of products and people are going to flock to it. Also, keep in mind when are viewing sites — if it sound easy, and they are saying it is easy — then why are we all not millionaires — if it’s too good to be true — then go with that.

Right on Nancy! Trust your instincts, if it’s too good to be true, it probably is! Others need to treat their businesses like real businesses and be more diligent in working at it! It takes time to do this, it isn’t going to happen over night!

Great article. You summed it up perfectly in the last sentence:
“Reach out and connect. Period.“
Do most marketers realize that they would actually be way better off to literally go out and knock on doors each day, because at least then, they would actually be connecting with people!!
Alot of people hiding behind the computer and not using that phone enough…I think the “telephone call” is “the secret” to success in this industry.

Exceptional article on misconceptions of Internet Marketing. Its unreal how many people believes by the push of a button or laying out links everywhere is going to bring in a rush of signups or sales. Thats a dreamers world. If a marketer is really serious, they will have to come to terms that it takes real effort, getting to know people and they know you and beginning to trust you.
Thanks for a great article.
